An open letter to my 18 year old

I know sometimes the pressure of the world leaves you feeling less than and frustrated with yourself. The social media world you flourish in also adds unsurmountable expectations. Remember your success at this job has come from being exactly who you are…what ever shape, size, mood, opinion you present on any given day.

Right now, in this moment, I am so proud of you. You have come so far in just a short time …although I’ve known from an early age the star that shines within you is so bright.

I hope you are proud of all you have accomplished these last two years (cause we sure are!) You have done so many cool and inspiring things by 18 that most of your counterparts may never do.  And you did it all on your own. You walked in solo applied for and got your job; despite being knee deep in one of the lowest points of your life. You secured your spot on the social media team with a successful Canadian company and in a short time excelled into your mentorship role. You have worked hard and it’s that hard work, and your kind, personable and savvy character that has made you successful.  Since I can remember you never shy away from talking to people or presenting your true self to the world.

You haven’t ridden on coattails or used your family name to get you where you are….remember that! You did all of this. Everyone who sees you shine knows that this is just

the beginning so keep working hard , keep being you, keeping letting the light in and make peace with the dark.

I love you, am proud of you and believe in you!
